Description
The East County FPD was
formed on July 1, 1994, when the Bostonia and Crest FPDs were
consolidated into one district. The consolidated District
furnishes a full range of fire and emergency services including
fire suppression, rescue, code compliance, emergency medical
transportation, fire prevention, and community education to
15,000 residents. The former districts were established in the
late 1940s, and served the noncontiguous communities of Bostonia
and Crest. Located in the foothills of El Cajon Valley,
both communities are primarily residential in nature with some
commercial and industrial development. Assistance is
provided from two stations staffed with an engine company, light
rescue, and a brush engine. The District employs a total
of six fire captains, six engineers, three firefighter
paramedics, seven reserve firefighters, one fire chief, an administrative assistant
and finance officer. It is governed by a five
member Board of Directors serving four-year terms elected by
the citizens of the District. The District is a member of the
Heartland Communications Facility Authority, and maintains full
automatic aid with adjacent fire departments in addition to San
Diego County and State Mutual Aid Agreements.
