Drills In The Home
1) Make and escape plan, draw
diagram of your home and know two (2) ways out of every room.
2) Be sure everyone can unlock doors
and windows quickly.
3) Make arrangements for small
children and people with disabilities.
4) If you must escape from second
story window, be sure you can get to the ground quickly.
5) Get out quickly, crawl low, under
the smoke. Call the fire department after you are out of the house.
6) Have a predesignated meeting
place. NEVER go back in once you are out.
7) Practice your escape plan at
least twice a year.
Plan for
Evacuations -- Think Ahead!
- Plan your escape in detail. Decide in advance that you will "pack up
and get out" if your home is in the path of a wildfire.
- Make a list of
important items to take with you, including valuables, family photographs
and videos, and important documents like insurance papers, birth
certificates, and other legal papers. Be ready to take prescription
medication, eyeglasses, and other health needs. Set up a plan for
family members to reunite if separated.
- If you them,
include family pets and livestock in your plan and have a supply of food and
water ready, and leashes, carriers and trailers if needed. Shot
records and other documents may come in handy if they require boarding.
Store at
least :: A three day supply of drinking water - Maintain first aid
supplies to treat the injured until help arrives.
